glasstarnAgentic process mining

Understand the process before you hand it to an agent.

glasstarn shows how any workflow really runs, from invoices and orders to tickets, claims or hiring, using exports from your own systems. Free, open source, and it runs on your laptop.

  • Understand how the work really runs today.
  • Improve it: remove, simplify or fix steps, with or without agents.
  • Check it against how it should run.

Set up glasstarn

Copy this into the Claude desktop app:

Claude

Install glasstarn and connect it to this agent using npx glasstarn setup. Show me the setup plan for approval, then verify the installation.

Or run this in your terminal:
npx glasstarn setup

Approve the setup plan, then restart your agent. Works in desktop apps, not the browser versions.

How it works

After setup, you just chat with your agent. It takes care of the rest.

  1. Install once. Copy the line above into your AI app and approve the setup.
  2. Open your agent on a folder. Put your export in a folder, open your AI app on it and say "analyze this process". No export yet? Your agent tells you what to export or what to ask your system admin for.
  3. See the answer. Your agent explains what it found and opens the results in your browser.
  4. Keep talking. Ask "show me the three main variants" or "only claims over $10,000", and the open page moves there and puts on the filter by itself. One tab, always in step with the chat.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes. glasstarn is open source under Apache 2.0, with no paid tier and no account.

How does the cost compare with enterprise tools?

glasstarn has no software licence fees. You can investigate a process on your computer with the AI agent you already use, without buying an enterprise platform. Your AI app’s usual costs still apply.

Do I need a big project or consultants to start?

No. Start with an export and the AI agent you already use. If your team would like a hand, Tropical Glacier offers quick consulting or training.

Can it follow work across systems?

Yes. glasstarn can link related records across systems to show how work moves between them. For example, an order in one system can be linked to its invoice in another. Your agent helps you match the records and follow the work across them.

How much of my AI plan does it use?

The glasstarn engine uses deterministic calculations on your computer, with no AI. Your agent reads short summaries, keeping AI usage similar for large and small files.

Does my data leave my computer?

Your files and every calculation stay on your laptop. Your AI app sees the summaries glasstarn works out, such as counts and times, not the full records.

Which AI apps does it work in?

Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Antigravity, or any other agent app that can run commands on your computer. Use the desktop app, not the browser version. It does not need computer use or browser control: your agent runs glasstarn, and your open page updates itself.

Do I have to click through the screens?

No. Keep talking to your agent and your open results page follows along: the view, the filters and the selection change by themselves, shown as chips you can remove. Click around yourself whenever you like.

What data can I use?

Start with an Excel workbook or CSV export. It needs an ID for each item, a step name and a time. More columns give you more insight. Not sure what to export? Install glasstarn and ask your agent. It knows how systems like SAP and Salesforce store their data, and tells you exactly what to export or what to ask your admin for.

What does glasstarn mean?

A tarn is a small mountain lake left behind by a glacier. Glass, because its water is so clear you can see right to the bottom. That is the idea: see your process clearly, all the way down. The logo is two peaks reflected in that water.
