Install

Add glasstarn to the AI app you already use. It takes one line, and everything stays on your computer.

glasstarn works inside the desktop apps of Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Antigravity, on Mac, Windows and Linux. It does not work in the browser versions, because it runs on your own computer and reads files there.

Open your AI app and paste this:

Install glasstarn and connect it to this agent using npx glasstarn setup. Show me the setup plan for approval, then verify the installation.

Your agent shows you what it will run, waits for your okay, installs glasstarn and checks that it works. Restart your agent once it is done.

You can also paste the link glasstarn.com/install and say “install this”. That page has the same steps, written for agents.

If you prefer a Terminal, run:

Terminal window
npx glasstarn setup

This needs Node.js 18 or newer, which includes npx. If you are installing Node for the first time, choose the current LTS release from nodejs.org. The command installs glasstarn and adds the glasstarn skill to your AI apps.

Ask your agent:

Is glasstarn ready?

It should answer with the version it found. In a Terminal, glasstarn doctor checks everything at once: the version, which agents are connected, any results page that is running, and that your projects can be saved. Each problem comes with the fix. If your agent cannot find glasstarn, restart the app once and ask again. Still nothing? See Fixing common problems.

Ask your agent a question about a process in your own words. Your agent starts glasstarn when it needs it and guides you through the investigation. You do not need to run commands yourself.

Ask your agent to update glasstarn, or run:

Terminal window
glasstarn update

Restart your agent afterwards. You can check the installation with glasstarn doctor.

Ask your agent to uninstall glasstarn, or run:

Terminal window
glasstarn uninstall

This removes the npm-installed program and its setup in Codex and Claude Code. Your projects and original exports are kept. If you built glasstarn from source or installed it another way, the command tells you how to remove the remaining program. You can delete project folders yourself when you no longer need them.

If your company manages software for you, ask your IT team to install glasstarn and approve it for your agent. glasstarn runs on your computer and keeps your files there, which usually makes approval easier. See Privacy and trust.
